Kolkata: Dr Batras' Positive Health Care Clinics Pvt Ltd will open clinics in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the next few months. It has also planned to enter into the retail business of homeopathic medicines by the end of the year.
Bindu Sharma, executive director and head of the medical services said, We have short listed doctors for the operation in these two cities.
According to Sharma, overseas market in countries like US, France, Italy, Russia, China and Japan is expanding. While the market size for homeopathy in India is around Rs 630 crore, that in France it is Rs 1,608 crore. Global homeopathy market, growing at 20-25% annually, is estimated to touch Rs 52,000 crore by 2017.
We are also planning to enter into the retail business of medicines by the end of this year, she said.
Dr Batra's has 63 clinics in 16 cities in India that are into the classical homeopathy treatment. It recently launched clinics in Pitampura in Delhi and Vizag. We have planned to open branches in four more cities by this year, Sharma said.
So far, it has invested Rs 27 crore in the clinics. The typical investment for a Batra's clinic is around Rs 50 lakh.
The company registered a turnover of Rs 63 crore in 2006-07. We expect that to increase to Rs 83 crore this fiscal, Sharma said.
Meanwhile, Dr Batra's UK venture, which had started seven years back with a partner in London, will be now run independently by the company. Declining to name the partner, Sharma said, Now we will run the clinic on our own.
